Survival Nation
Product and Legal Restrictions
This page applies to every customer of Survival Nation. It lists the product, age and shipping restrictions we know of today, but it is not a complete statement of the law and it may fall behind changes in the law. You are responsible for knowing the federal, state and local laws that apply to you and to what you buy. Checkout may add further restrictions based on the address and information you provide, and we will cancel and refund any order we cannot lawfully ship.
Age requirement
You must be 18 or older to order an airgun, a slingshot, a knife, a flamethrower, a less than lethal launcher or pepper spray from Survival Nation, and 21 or older where your state or city requires it. The carrier may require an adult signature at delivery for these items.
Airguns, pellets and BBs
Air rifles and air pistols cannot ship to Washington, DC; New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island); Philadelphia, PA; or Johnson City, TN.
- Illinois (outside Chicago): an airgun that fires a projectile larger than .18 inch, or faster than 700 feet per second, must ship to a licensed firearms dealer (FFL) for transfer. Airguns cannot ship to Chicago.
- Michigan: pellet guns, and BB guns with a rifled barrel or of .22 caliber or larger, must ship to an FFL for transfer. All Michigan state law applies.
- Minnesota: any airgun that can fire a pellet must ship to an FFL for transfer.
- New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island and North Dakota: every airgun must ship to an FFL for transfer.
If your order needs an FFL transfer, we will contact you for the dealer's details before it ships. The dealer sets their own transfer fee.
Less than lethal launchers
Byrna launchers, kits and projectiles are not firearms under federal law and do not need a permit or a background check in most of the country. Some cities and states treat CO2 launchers, pepper projectiles or kinetic rounds differently. We do not ship launchers or pepper and chemical projectiles anywhere they are prohibited, and we hold orders to New York City, Washington, DC and Massachusetts for review before shipping.
Pepper spray and personal alarms
We cannot ship pepper spray to Massachusetts or New York, where it must be bought in person from a licensed dealer, or to any address where it is prohibited. California limits a canister to 2.5 ounces, and other states set their own size and strength limits; we ship the size the destination allows. Personal alarms and whistles ship anywhere.
Stun guns
Where we offer them, stun guns and similar electronic devices cannot ship to Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Wisconsin, or to any city that prohibits them.
Knives
Automatic, out the front and gravity knives cannot ship to states that prohibit them, including Delaware, Hawaii, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington and Washington, DC, or to cities with their own bans. Other states limit blade length or carry rather than purchase; those laws are yours to know. Every knife ships adult signature required.
Flamethrowers
Flamethrowers cannot ship to Maryland. California limits a flamethrower to a 10 foot range without a state permit. We will not ship a flamethrower to any address where it is prohibited, and every flamethrower ships adult signature required.
Slingshots
Slingshots ship to every state, but some cities restrict wrist braced or hunting models. Check your local ordinances before you order.
Misprints
Product descriptions and specifications come from the manufacturer. Survival Nation is not liable for errors or omissions in them. If a detail matters to your purchase, contact us before you order.
