Good Samaritan Tries To Rescue Injured Deer On A Frozen River…Then He Saw The Animals Injuries
Every winter, we see dramatic rescues of both wild and domestic animals by both animal control , police and in some cases, even hunters. Some are trapped in frozen rivers/ponds, and some are even caught in traps. Now, nobody wants to see a poor animal suffer, that’s just human nature.
If we see an animal in distress, we will do whatever we can to help to poor creature out. That’s how this story began, but sadly, not every animal can be saved, so, if you have delicate sensibilities, stop reading this article and click away right now, because you will not like how this story ends.
Here’s what happened in the words of the man who shot this video:
This poor Deer was trapped on the ice on the Saint john river in Hartland, NB. (Canada). I spotted it from the highway bridge and decided to go see if it was hurt, unfortunately it was.
After calling the local Rangers, they told me to either kill it,or walk away and leave it for mother nature. I’m a Hunter and couldn’t do that. After 4 calls to authorities I finally got a Ranger agree to go take care of it since it was within sight of the public.
This morning it was gone, nothing to show but a small pool of blood where they put her out of her misery.
Life goes on!!!!
At Least she wasn’t eaten by a coyote. FOR ALL WHO CAN’T READ, Yes, the deer was injured. Its Chest Bone was shattered and sticking through its skin.
Sadly this story does not have a happy ending, but that’s how nature works, “real life” isn’t a Disney , or Hallmark movie, where everything turns-out alright in the end. Perhaps the gentleman could have taken the animal’s life and ended it’s suffering, but he didn’t want to do that.
Given the animal’s severe injuries, I don’t think I could have walked away, leaving it there on the ice to suffer and let “nature take it’s course”.
What would you have done ?
