Great Instructional Video: The 3 Basic Handgun Types

I found this video to be quite interesting even though I am quite familiar with it’s content and no matter how old I get, I will always be open to learn, or re-learn something. But in-case, our old friend Hickok45 is back to share some of his extensive knowledge of firearms and this time, it’s regarding the 3 basic handgun types. Most of his videos are between 20 to 30 minutes long, but this one is relatively short (only 7 minutes).

According to Wikipedia:

A revolver is a repeating handgun that has a revolving cylinder containing multiple chambers and at least one barrel for firing. Revolvers might be regarded as a subset of pistols, or as an equal-ranking subset of handguns, distinct from pistols. Though the term “revolver” usually only refers to handguns, other firearms may also have a revolving chamber. There are two types of revolvers, single and double action (as you will see in the video below).

A semi-automatic pistol is a type of pistol that is semiautomatic, meaning it uses the energy of the fired cartridge to cycle the action of the firearm and advance the next available cartridge into position for firing. One cartridge is fired each time the trigger of a semi-automatic pistol is pulled. A semi-automatic pistol harnesses the energy of one shot to reload the chamber for the next. After a round is fired, the spent casing is ejected and a new round from the magazine is loaded into the chamber, allowing another shot to be fired as soon as the trigger is pulled again

If you are not familiar with handguns, then I suggest that you take 7 minutes out of your day and watch the video below. And if you are thinking about buying your very first handgun, but cannot decide what type to get,  then I definitely recommend that you watch this video.
