Ridin’ The Lightnin’: Military Police Training With Taser
There are some that don’t quite understand to what lengths our police departments and military personnel go through to become qualified with the different types of lethal and non-lethal weapons in their inventories. Here we see members of the 545th Military Police Company of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, in Alaska, experience the less then lethal encounters of the taser as they complete required taser training. All Military Police Officers assigned to the 545th MP Company are required to conduct this training before they carry the tasers on the job.
The taser portion of the course is usually taught in two portions: classroom environment and hands-on portion. During the class, instructors tase the MPs and teach them how to control situations by getting the person under control and secured. There were two types of tasers used during the class: cartilages (two small, dart-like electrodes, which stay connected to the main unit by conductive wire) and dry stunt (contact with the actual taser).
What ever the case, this does not look it is much fun.
