Lions vs Baboons In The Ultimate Showdown…How Does It End…See For Yourself
If I were your average run-o-th’-mill lion living on the Savannah in Africa, baboon meat wouldn’t be my first preference. But, a hungry lion will kill just about anything it can catch, especially if it hasn’t had a meal in a while. Lions are the apex predators on the African Savanna, it is not uncommon for a pride of lions to occasionally take down an elephant when hungry. So if a hungry lion has the opportunity, a careless baboon makes for a nice snack.
I suppose that being primates ourselves, we would not want to see a lion kill and eat a baboon. Having eaten monkey meat while conducting jungle trainning in Panama, I can tell you monkey isn’t a very tasty meal…also- it kinda hits too close to home. But since this video has been viewed by over 44 million people, some found it worth watching.
Regarding Lions & Baboons:
The lion is one of the big cats in the genus Panthera and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies in Africa.
Baboons are African and Arabian Old World monkeys belonging to the genus Papio, part of the subfamily Cercopithecinae. The five species are some of the largest non-hominoid members of the primate order; only the mandrill and the drill are larger
Let’s see just what really happens when these two species meet on the Savannah:
