Video – Cooking Meat for Survival: The Ground Oven

This primitive oven uses fire, rocks, raw meat, and a few improvised natural tools. I prefer a similar technique, using a cast iron dutch oven. A shovel is helpful in this type of project, as well, for moving coals and hot rocks. The end product looks delicious. Falling off of the bone! When cooking, especially in the wild, ensure that meat is thoroughly done. These guys cooked the meat for three hours while they accomplished other primitive survival tasks. Also, never use rocks from a creek, river or pond. The water inside of the rocks can cause explosions when heated!
